How to use this simulation?
Here you can modify your WIP-limits and start a simulation, where you can see, how fast your tickets will go through the process. The simulation tries to move one card each day. It goes randomly through the columns. If a card can be moved (no WIP-Limit will be broken), the card will be moved with a certain chance. You can edit this chance, see 'Boards & Params'. It becomes more difficult the more cards are in the column. If the leftmost column is randomly chosen as source, the chance will be always 100%. You can also:
-
Add more cards to the left column (Ready-column)
-
Start and pause the simulation.
-
Modify the WIP-limits by pressing the buttons below the column description. And yes, you can do this while your simulation is running! If you break the WIP-limit, the column is marked red. If there are some cards in a column but the next column is full, the next column will be marked yellow. In both cases, you'll get in trouble!
-
Take a look at your cumulative flow diagram (CFD)
-
Restart the simulation (Keep WIP-Limits and all cards) to run it again or create a new board to reset everything.
Have fun!
